League Match vs Hackney CC, Sat 23rd June 2018, London Fields

Hackney vs Hackney

by Chris 'P' Rice

London Fields emerged victorious in a hard fought game which ball dominated bat to an unexpected extent given the look of the pitch and baking hot temperatures. The pitch was firm and baked dry by the previous weeks of sunshine. London Fields bowlers set the tone first up with immaculate line and length giving nothing away. In all 6 bowlers were used and wickets were shared evenly.

Hackney had a stand out innings of 93 which underpinned a what was thought below par score of 198 off 40 overs. However it is not a game until 2 teams have batted...

LFCC’s reply began steadily, however wickets fell in a cluster in the nervous nineties and they were rescued by a sublime innings of 57* by skipper James who batting at 7 guided them home with 5 balls and 3 wickets to spare.

All in all a day in which cricket was clearly the winner.
